Update on Santa Fe meeting, March 16
March 8, 2016
Dear friends --
As promised, here's an update on next week's Study Group meeting in Santa Fe. We're meeting on Wednesday, March 16, the same date as previously announced, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 107 W Barcelona Rd (map), from 6 to 8 pm. We'll meet in the library.
We are also still meeting this Wednesday, March 9, at 5:30 pm, at the World Headquarters, 2901 Summit Place NE, Albuquerque (map).
At these meetings we will provide short updates with lots of discussion on the administration's nuclear weapons plans, especially as they relate to the New Mexico labs, plutonium disposition and waste disposal in New Mexico, prospects for cleanup at Los Alamos and elsewhere, a possible commercial nuclear fuel storage site near Hobbs, and related developments.
There is good news to tell, and some interesting tidbits that we can't write into Bulletins.
We want to save the last half-hour or so to discuss, together, our integral responses to these developments.
I want to emphasize that these meetings are safe places to bring your concerns and uncertainties. There will be space for them. We won't overdo it with numbing facts and details. We are all in this together.
Hopefully you all got Bulletin 217 this morning. If there were formatting difficulties for you in the email version, read the web version.
Best,
Greg and Trish
P.S. We are heading up to Santa Fe soon to Sally Denton's book event (The Profiteers: Bechtel and the Men Who Built the World) this evening at 6 pm at Collected Works, 202 Galisteo St. in Santa Fe (map). Perhaps we will see some of you there!
P.P.S. If you want off these local lists let me know by return email.
