Articles:
August
2, 4, & 5: Citizen inspections, Los Alamos and Sandia national
laboratories.
The Los Alamos Study Group will be inspiring and participating
in a coordinated series of citizens' inspections of Los Alamos
National Laboratory (LANL) and Sandia National Laboratories (SNL)
on August 2, 4, and 5, 2004.
The August 2 and 4 virtual inspections will include an overview
of the U.S. Nuclear Weapons Complex and will focus on Los Alamos
(August 2) and Sandia (August 4) with a special emphasis on new
weapons designs, plutonium pit production, and nuclear waste dumping.
The August 5 inspections at Los Alamos will be on-site fact finding
missions carried out by concerned citizens to gather information
on current and proposed nuclear weapons activities, and to monitor
the status of Los Alamos' compliance with international treaties
and international and domestic legal obligations. We will provide
all interested inspectors with the information and background
they need to conduct inspections of LANL on August 5 alongside
us.
